It has been given the distinction of historic status, and was built in the early 1950’s. The home was recently valued at $3.5 million and was last purchased in 2016. Just around the corner from Elvis’ Honeymoon Hideaway is Sammy Davis Jr.’s Palm Springs manor. Not too much is known about the house, but it was allegedly purchased during the 60’s heyday of The Rat Pack era.
The kitchen can be accessed from either the dining or living rooms. It is slightly elevated, accessible by stair, as it was originally intended for use by servers and staff who would have been separated from the action. Today, a substantial rectangular cutout in the wall allows for more interaction between the rooms and also provides a view of the landscape from the kitchen. The kitchen itself has been remodeled with a creative oval stone backsplash, countertop stove and sizable refrigerator.

It’s also the home in which he wrote the script for The Nutty Professor. It’s now valued at $2.25 million and features a spacious layout with a four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a pool. I checked out seven iconic celebrity homes in Palm Springs, and I am sharing them right here alongside some history for good measure. From the pool area and looking up, lush foliage surrounds the entire property with bamboo, banana leaf trees, fruit trees, and tropical plants along with the smell of fragrant jasmine in the air. The result is a feeling of being in a secluded paradise high above the streets of LA.
Stewart Williams, it was commissioned by Old Blue Eyes himself in 1947. After Elvis died, the 4-bedroom 7-bath home, which features an outdoor pool, an indoor sauna and a steam room, was sold to singer Frankie Valli. Over the years, the home has been owned by a variety of owners. Elvis Presley enjoyed Palm Springs because of the perfect nighttime temperature of the desert. The extremely hot temperatures during the day didn’t bother Elvis because he would be sleeping until the late afternoon, even putting tin foil on the windows to keep out the daytime sun.

Being as involved in the music industry as he was, Davis let out the pool house for the purpose of recording music. In fact, The Band recorded their second album in here. Apparently they had a good experience while recording at the home, as they write about it in the album cover itself. Walking back up the stairs and through the Great Room, another staircase leads up to a floor that wasn’t part of the original home. Up here you’ll find a home gym and spa-like bathroom, as well as the spacious master bedroom.
Turning off Sunset Boulevard and meandering up through the Hollywood Hills, you leave the city behind and enter an elegant area where the homes are beautiful — perched on steep inclines. As you climb higher, the roads become narrower until you reach your destination, a home at the end of Evanview Drive. An unassuming cream façade hides a house that has been host to more than one Hollywood legend. Palm Springs wouldn’t be the same without Ol’ Blue Eyes. Frank Sinatra discovered Palm Springs from a long time friend and songwriter, Jimmy Van Heusen back in the mid 40’s and lived in Palm Springs for most of his life.
Frank Sinatra
He was heavily involved in charitable work throughout the area. A few days before Sammy left for Studio City, as Akron, Ohio, started to get into its serious winter mode, Helen Boss prepared for her yearly trip to the West Coast. Sammy hasn’t had a license for very long, but Charles Head is a good driver, he will take the monotonous desert driving in Sammy’s new 1954 Cadillac El Dorado.
Frank never talked to JFK again, and some say the diss caused him to become a card carrying Republican afterwards. Rose Ave., Palm Springs, I was unable to see records of who currently owns the home, but according to Zillow, it has four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms and is worth 2.2 million. But perhaps nowhere is she loved more than in Palm Springs, California. Today, the exterior of that home remains virtually as it did when Marilyn resided there—and is a popular tourist destination. Special acoustic tile was installed by RCA on the ceiling of the living room for a two-day recording session in September 1973. Presley recorded the songs “Are You Sincere,” “I Miss You” and “Sweet Angeline” at the makeshift studio in his Palm Springs home.
Later, the home was acquired by Sammy Davis Jr., who expanded the property to its present size. Throughout the home, traces of these famous inhabitants have been preserved and put on display so that their presence can be felt throughout. Coined Twin Palms, it was also known as Frank Sinatra’s home in the desert (if those walls could talk, honey!). Located at 1148 East Alejo Rd, it is a mid-century modern house in the Movie Colony–El Mirador neighborhood of Palm Springs, California according to this website.
However, the bookcase actually holds a hidden door that leads into the Judy Garland suite — the home’s original master bedroom, complete with a walk-in closet and dressing area. Today, an ornate golden bed frame stands in the room, and an old photo of the famous sparkling ruby slippers hangs on the wall. The dressing area is untouched from when Garland and Minnelli lived here and is complete with the original mirrors. Hidden in the back of the closet and dressing area is a panic room that was built with the original house. It’s unknown why Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli felt this was necessary, nor whether this area has ever been used for its intended purpose. When Elvis bought the house located on a 1.75-acre lot, it was 3,500 square feet.
After driving long hours along the desolate Highway 91, out of Las Vegas, the road merges with Route 66 in Barstow. Sammy rests while his friend and valet motors into the town of Victorville. Sammy and Charles Head left the Strip late on the evening on the 18th. With freeways in the vast Mojave Desert still years away, the trip will be more than 290 miles across a landscape of mostly Joshua Trees and sand, the way illuminated by less than half of a full moon. Naturally, Las Vegas is all about money, and when the young man’s friend said he wouldn’t play the strip anymore, executives listened. When the young man said he wouldn’t play if he couldn’t stay, the New Frontier took a gamble and opened its doors to all.
The eccentric singer was said to have taken to living in the garage at one point. Doctor Hill continued to practice well into his 80s, and regularly received gifts from the very grateful singer, dancer, Hollywood actor and Las Vegas celebrity. After being rushed to San Bernardino Community Hospital, Sammy was attended to by Doctor Fredrick Hull, the best eye specialist in town. Realizing her mistake, Helen put her car in reverse, and drove backwards, off Kendall Drive, and onto Route 66.
This beautiful estate is more than just a house; it is a refuge high in the hills, alive with Hollywood history and glamor. The home "may have the strongest connection to the real Sinatra, built to his personal specifications to satisfy his unique inner needs," according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com. The current owner's family were friends of Sinatra and are the only ones who've lived at the home since the famous crooner. I have done the driving tour using the map available from the Visitor’s Center many time as out of towners are looking for some kitschy fun.
